What it is

BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide fragment marketed for recovery and longevity purposes, largely on the basis of animal data.[1] It is sold in research-chemical channels with 'not for human consumption' labeling.

Regulatory status

No FDA approval. No USP/NF monograph. Under FDA bulk-substance (503A) review, with Category 2 status citing significant safety risk concerns warranting further evaluation.[2] WADA lists BPC-157 as non-approved (S0), prohibited at all times.[3]

State of the evidence

A large preclinical literature in rodents on tissue-repair endpoints, consistent across multiple laboratories. As of early 2026, only a small number of human pilot studies — far short of the evidence required for regulatory approval.[1] This is an open evidence gap, not a settled result.
